Continuing Professional Development guidelines
This document focuses on what members of the Association for Coaching can include towards their Continuing Professional Development (CPD):
Topics
CPD can be related to those areas of work involving coaching. CPD can be obtained by reading coaching-related professional journals, newsletters and books; attending seminars, conferences, workshops; teaching; writing articles and book reviews for professional journals; undertaking research, being involved in relevant discussion groups (including the Association's online discussion group). Also, attending Association functions such as the AGM or being involved with Association committee work can be included.
CPD can include topics allied to coaching, for example, relevant counselling or listening skills or assertiveness training courses.
Hours
Members are encouraged to undertake a minimum of 30 hours of CPD per annum. Although CPD of members is recommended, it is not mandatory. A balance of CPD through different mediums would be expected such as reading, attendance of seminars etc. The thirty hours should not reflect input from only one method, for example, teaching.
CPD logbook
It is recommended that a CPD Logbook is maintained by members. The CPD Logbook can be completed and sent into The Association CPD Committee to be verified and stamped on an annual basis. Members would be expected to provide evidence of course attendance such as a letter of attendance with their submission.
